What's the job?

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. You will be working across the full software development lifecycle and contributing to the design and development of platforms and services using Node.js and TypeScript, with a strong focus on AWS.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate scalable backend services that support core business capabilities. Working closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders, you will help deliver high-quality features while shaping technical solutions and architectural decisions.

If you're looking for an exciting opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and make a real impact building better software, this is the job for you!

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, primarily on AWS.
  • Take ownership of solutions across the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through to deployment and production support.
  • Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and engineering stakeholders to deliver high-quality, business-critical features.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Apply DevOps practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code where appropriate.
  • Ensure services are production-ready by embedding monitoring, logging, and observability from the outset.
  • Provide technical leadership within the team, including mentoring other engineers and promoting best engineering practices.
  • Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and code quality through iteration, feedback, and data-driven improvements.

What you'll bring

  • Strong commercial experience building backend services using Node.js and TypeScript in production environments.
  • Extensive experience designing and operating cloud-native solutions on AWS, with hands-on knowledge of core services.
  • Practical experience with AWS CDK (or other Infrastructure as Code tools) to design, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and scalable backend architectures.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Ability to take technical ownership, contribute to architectural decisions, and drive engineering best practices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
